Mar 19, 2013 (Middlesboro Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- It's time for the 44th Annual Roho Fishing Tournament. Roho members are now selling tickets for the annual fishing tournament, which is a charitable fundraiser. The proceeds from the tournament are used for the group's annual Christmas shopping spree for underprivileged children.

The tournament will be held at Beach Island Resort and Marina/Bubba Brews Sports Pub and Grill. The event is scheduled May 4 and May 5. On May 4, the event will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. On May 5 the event will be held between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The club has set a goal of $45,000. Reaching the goal would allow the club to send 250 children on a Christmas shopping spree. Each child would receive $150 to spend.

Tickets can be purchased at the following locations: Arnold Athletics, Beach Island Marine, East End Pawn Shop, Eddie Beeler, First State Financial, Hillcrest Lanes, Imperial Bait and Tackle, Jim Brown Supply, Kenneth Wilson Auto, Larry Carter -- LMU Communications, Rusty Peache -- LMU Communications, Long's Pic-Pac, Lost Creek Campground, Pappy's, Raymond Caylor, Rigsby Bait and Tackle, Shylock's Pawn Shop, Signs and Trucks Accessories, State Electric, Tri-State Outfitters, Tuttle's Grocery or through any Roho member.

People and organizations can also support the group by sponsoring a child for the shopping spree. This can be done for $150 (30 tickets).

During last year's shopping spree, 250 children from the tri-state area got a chance to enjoy the event. Each child was given $150 to spend- $40 for toys and $110 for clothing. The children are chosen from 22 schools by their teachers and principals each year.
